Alien Vaults

Role in the System

Alien Vaults are user-facing vaults created and managed by external partners or integrators using the XLP infrastructure.

They exist alongside XLP-S and XLP-J and provide customizable liquidity and yield products for specific strategies, user bases, or risk appetites.

  • Not protocol-native: Each vault is defined by a partner, with its own allocation rules, risk parameters, and tranche logic.

  • Connected to core XLP: Alien Vaults can interact with XLP-S liquidity for conservative backing or XLP-J flow for active fee capture.

  • Flexible: Partners can select target currencies, cluster vaults (USD, ETH, BTC), or specialized market exposure.

Economic Purpose

Alien Vaults allow partners to:

  • Launch bespoke yield products without building full infrastructure

  • Leverage existing XLP pools and liquidity

  • Customize risk-return profiles for niche audiences or institutional clients

  • Access Senior tranche stability (XLP-S) or Junior tranche upside (XLP-J) depending on strategy

Essentially, they extend the XLP ecosystem, creating a modular, partner-driven yield layer on top of the core protocol.

Structure & Relationship to XLP

  1. Collateral Handling

    • Vaults can be funded with partner-selected assets

    • May route excess or idle collateral into XLP-S for safety or XLP-J for active yield

  2. Tranche Mapping

    • Alien Vaults may define their own internal tranches

    • Can choose to mirror Senior/Junior logic or create custom hierarchies

  3. PnL & Yield Distribution

    • Partner-controlled allocation rules

    • Daily or maturity-based distribution

    • Can tap XLP-J revenue streams, LP fees, or executor strategies

  4. Risk Management

    • Vaults inherit protocol-wide safeguards:

      • collateralization rules

      • liquidation thresholds

      • reserve prioritization via XLP-S if desired

System-Level Impact

Alien Vaults expand the XLP ecosystem by:

  • Enabling tailored products for DeFi users, DAOs, funds, or institutional clients

  • Driving liquidity and revenue back into core XLP pools

  • Allowing innovative partner strategies while maintaining system safety

  • Bridging the gap between internal XLP operations and external capital sources

Alien Vaults let the protocol scale beyond native users, enabling modular financial products while keeping systemic risk contained.
